Pleasant Bank School

Maddensville, Pa.

July 21, 1923

The School board of Springfield Twn. meet this day in regular meeting. Members present whear J. L. Miller C.L. Greene Scott Stains

G. Ross Noden being absent but appointed Mrs. J.G. Lane to serve as protend.

In this meeting the following buisiness was transacted

1st It was motioned by C.L. Green to take up Frehns Schoolhouse Repairing Sec. by J.L. Miller.

2nd Was motoned by C.P. Greene Second J.L. Miller that H.G. Ashton to be Scsectary 3 director voteing yes.

3rd. Itwas motioned by C.P. Greene Sec. by J.L. Miller to take up cleaning for Pleasant Bank School Edward Frehn got the cleaning for $7.50.

4th. The kindling was then takening up for Pleasant Bank J.B. Roher $6.75.

Then fuel for Pleasant Bank Edward Frehn got it for 7.75. Next Cleaning of Maddensville School was held over. Next kindling for Maddensville Schoolhouse J.L. Miller 8.75. Then fuel for Maddensville was held over. The cleaning for Meadow Gap Schoolhouse was then taken up and given to H.J. Madden $9.75 then the kindling to H.J. Madden for $8.50. Then the fuel was held over for Meadow Gap

6th. The cleaning for Maddensville Schoolhouse was takenup and given to H.J. Madden for $9.50 Next the Kindling for Maddens. was given to H.J. Madden for $7.75. Then the fuel for Maddens. was taking up and Chas Stains bid $9.25 was held over.

Then Wood Cuting Cleaning was taken up and given to H.J. Maddens for $9.25. Then Kindling was given to J.L. Miller for $7.00. Then coal for Wood Cuting was given to J.L. Miller for $10.75.

Aug. 18, 1923

 

The school board of Springfield Tws. meet at G. Ross Noden. Those present C.P. Green Elis Wilson J.L. Miller and J.B. Roher. It was moved J.L. Miller and seconded J.B. roher that G. Ross Noden act as secoetary protend all voteing yes.

J.B. Roher moved that G.Ross Noden act as secreary for the year and hiis wages to be #75.00 per year. Seconded by C.P. Green a vote was called and all voteing yes.

It was moved by C.P. Green that G. Ross Noden go to Lockes Valley and get the lowest bid he can get for transporting to Shade Gap. One dollar to be payed him seconded J.L. Miller all voteing yes.

It was moved J.B. Roher that W.S. Ramsey be elected teacher for Maddensville Seconded J.L. Miller all voteing yes.

It was moved C.P. Green that Chas R. Smith be elected teacher for Meadow Gap Seconded by J.L. Miller All voteing yes.

It was moved by J.L. Miller that Chas Stains be elected Truant Officer for the year his wages to be 75.00 per year. Seconded by C.P. Green votes as follows C.P. Green J.P. Miller and Elis Wilson Voteing yes J.B. Roher Voteing no.

It was moved J.l. Miller that the Miliage be twenty five Mills and per capity tax to be four dollars ($4.00) Second by J.B. Roher all Voteing yes.

Maddens School

Sept 1st. 1923

The School board of Springfield Tws. meet at Maddens School Those present C.P.Green J.L. Miller, Elis Wilson and J.B. Roher

It was moved by J.B. Roher that Miss Juniat Bungler be elected to teach Meadow Gap School in place of Smith Seconded J.P. Miller all Voteing yes.

Bids was call for transporting children from Lockes Valley to Shade Gap. The lowest bid being $84.75 per month. The bid being for nine children if less the same pay if more to be payed in proporition.

It was moved by C.P. Green that school open Monday Sept. 10th. 1923 Seconded by J.B. Roher all Voteing yes.

Moved by C.P. Green that Compulsory begin for those twelve years old and over Oct.8th. 1923 and continue one hundred and eighteen days seconded J.B. Roher All voteing yes.

Moved by C.P.Green that we give Chas Stains backtaxes that he could not collect. Seconded J.B. Roher. all Voteing yes.

The School board meet at G. Ross Noden at Maddensville. Those present C.P. Green, J.L. Miller J.B. Roher and Scot Stains.

C.P. Green moved that Miss Ruth Hall be elected teach Meadow Gap School Seconded by J.L. Miller all Voteing yes. Moved by C.P. Green if Miss Hall could not take the school that Mr. Daniels be elected teacher Seconded by Scott Stain all Voteing yes.

J.B. Roher reports cleaning at Maddensville O.K.

J.L. Miller reports the cleaning and work at Pleasant Bank. O.K.

Scott Stains reports the work done and cleaning at Wood Cuting O.K.

Wilson send in word that thw work and cleaning for this year O.K.

C.P. Green reports the work and cleaning at Meadow Gap. O.K.

The Secy was ordered to pay all wages and contracts O.K. and supplies

The School board meet at G. Ross Noden at Maddensville Those present C.P. Green, J.L. Miller J.B. Roher, Scott Stains, Elis Wilson, and Mrs. Calvin Lynn. Mrs. Calvin Lynn was sworn in office

J.G. Lane sent a bill of cost of makeing John Drenk serve sentence for not sending his children to school. The board ask the Secy to write to M.B. Wright Supt to give his judgment on it.

It was moved by C.P. Green that we pay Robert Berkstresser tuition at Cumberland Valley State Normal School. Seconded by Mrs. Lynn all Voteing yes

The Contract of Gaurde Anderson at Madden School 1922. was held over on account of not haveing all the plastan on

C.P. Green moved that we give back Three dollars (3.00) that Irene Locke pay 1921 Seconded by J.L. Miller all Voteing yes.

Bill of H.R. Locke for School supplies Broms, Window Glass, and damper for Pipe Freight and hauling on Tablets it was ordered to be payed by a full Vote

The school board met at Maddens ville School house. Those present- were C.P. Greene, Mrs. Calvin Lynn Mr Jesse Miller and Mr J.B. Roher.

Business being taken up the first thing in order was to elect a new Director to take the place of Mr. Scott Stains Deceased. Mrs. Grant Lane being nominated by C.P. Greene President Sec. by Jesse Miller full Vote Sworn in by President

Ross Noden being nominated as Secy Sec by Jesse Miller full vote. Nom. Closed.

Next-in order cleaning and repairing and Fuel let cleaning and plastering plastering being over 2 yd two be paid extra.

Air slacked lime to be used in all toilets given to Ed Frehn for the sum of $11.50

Teacher for Maddens School Mr. Geo Madden being nominated by Mr. Roher Sec by Mrs. Lane. Mr. Roher and Mrs. Lane voting yes Mrs. Lynn, Mr. Miller and Mr. Greene no, no's carried.

Teacher for Wood Cutting Mr. Robert Reeder being nominated by Mrs. Grant lane. Sec. by Mr. C.P. Greene full vote of board. Teacher for Meadow Gap Homer Cromwell being nominated by Pres. C.P. Greene Sec by Jesse Miller all voting yes then Maddenville School being taken up again. Mrs. Calvin Lynn nominated Mr. Wilbur Fisher Sec by Mr. Miller full vote of board.

Maddens School Mr. C.P. Greene nominated Roy Grissinger Sec by Mr. Miller. Mr. Miller Mr.Greene Mrs. Lynn Mrs. Lane voting yes, Mr. Roher, no, yeas Carried.

Mr. C.P. Greene Motions the Millage be 20 mills for coming year Head tax same as last yr. $4.00 per head full vote of board. and that George Madden be paid $1,000 on note by Sec by order of board and that Mr.C.P. Greene see bank about borrowing balance to pay remaining balance of note. All bills ordered by the board to be paid by Secy

Sec by Mrs. Lane. Repairs of Wood Cutting be taken up porch to be fixed Mrs. Lane moves that Mr. Staines fixes the same Mrs. Lynn Sec mo.
