On March 29, 1920.

Sylvester Cromwell Notifies the Secretary of School Board of Supervisors that he, Sylvester Cromwell, has tendered his resignation as Supervisor of Springfield Township, and as his house and all its contents were destroyed by fire, he would have to ask the Supervisors to give him a new Note as the old ones were burned.

        One note of $418 was given Feb. 1, 1919 which with interest of $30.93 
        Makes a principal of $448.93. 
        Another note of $186.58 was given Dec. 6, 1919 which with interest 
        of $4.29 makes a principle of $190.87.
        These two notes were added together makes a new note of $639.80.
        On this April 24, 1920 Supervisors give Sylvester Cromwell this new note 
        of $639.80.

Board of Supervisors Meet in Regular meeting, full board present.

1st. Reading and adopting of minutes of last meeting.

2nd. Sylvester Cromwell resignes and resignation accepted by J.B. Roher and Ran Wilson.

3rd. Bruce M. McCoy was unanimously appointed to fill unexpired term of Sylvester Cromwell, and was sworn in.

4th. J.G. Lane had deposited $75.00 in the Three Springs Bank for Supervisors use for Springfield Township, This money was paid back by Sylvester Cromwell and board of Supervisors give Sylvester Cromwell the Township's note for this $75.00 and and this with the other $639.80 made a note with a principle of $714.80

5th. The Board reorganized and unanimously elected J.B. Riher president for ensueing year 1920,

6th. As the Twp. Auditors failed to set the Supervisors Wages for attending a regular meeting the Board took the general Law as their guide and took the least Wages allowable which was $2.50 per day.

6. Is Writing Orders for time working on roads.

7. Board then adjourned to meet on the last Saturday of May which will be May 29, 1920.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting, J.B. Roher president present and B.M. McCoy present. Ran Wilson Absent.

1st. Reading and Adopting of the Minutes of last meeting of May 29, 1920.

2.Resolved by J.B. Roher and B.M. McCoy That Supervisors Devide the Township into three sections as follows to wit:

     1st. J.B. Roher work roads run from Line at or near Brownsville to Brook 
     Joining road coming down from Mt. Carmel Church and again from Walnut Grove 
     Church to up past Porter Wible's to where Clear Ridge Road forks at or near 
     J.S. Mort's. Said J.B. Roher works all roads enclosed there by, this being 
     the Western Corner of Springfield Township.
     B.M. McCoy takes road from Brownsville north to ward Old Baptist Church. 
     Said B.M. McCoy also Joins J.B. Roher at Brook below Harvey Wible's and 
     comes North East up by Mt. Carmel Church and past M.C. Chilcoats down round 
     Leader farm through Meadow Gap and to fork of Roads leading to Locke Valley 
     Said B.M. McCoy is to over see all roads enclosed with in these lines making 
     Noth east Corner of Springfield Township.
     Rand Wilson Joins J.B. Roher at fork of roads coming down from Brownsville 
     and Mt. Carmel and work toward Maddensville. Also Ran Wilson Joins J.B. Roher 
     at Walnut Grove Church and work towards Maddensville. Also Ran Wilson Joins 
     J.B. Roher at fork of Roads near J.S. Mort's and work towards Maddenville. 
     Also Ran Wilson Joins B.M. McCoy at Mt. Carmel Church and work by Buildings 
     of E.R. Wible Now home of Frank Gearinger and all roads from there leading 
     toward Maddensville. Also Ran Wilson Joins B.M. McCoy at big creek by farm 
     formerly owned by Elliott Ramsey now home of Ross Covert and work toward 
     Maddensville, Also Ran Wilson Joins B.M. McCoy at fork of roads east of 
     Meadow Gap and worktoward Maddensville and over the Blacklog Mountain and 
     through Locke Valley, and these shall be south eastern corner of Springfield 
     Township. Said Supervisors shall from now May 29, 1920 each look after his 
     alloted section.

2nd. Issuing Orders and paying same.

3rd. Board adjourned to meet on last Sat. in July which will be July 31, 1920

July 31, 1920

1st. Supervisors meet in Regular meeting, B.M. McCoy and Ran Wilson present, J.B. Roher absent.

2nd. House called to order by B.M. McCoy president pro tem.

3rd. The minutes of last meeting were read and adopted by both presents members.

4th. The present members proceeded to hand in their time on the road for themselves and for their mem.

5th. The present members agree to pay a few orders off.

6th. Board then adjourned to meet on regular meeting day which will be last Saturday in August (Aug. 28, 1920)

Sept. 25, 1920

Supervisors meet in regular meting full board Present

1st. Reading and adopting of last meeting minutes by full board

2. The Supervisors then proceeded to hand in their time for diferent men working on roads.

3rd. On July 1st. The Board of Supervisors agreed to purchase from the C.E. Chappelear Supply company 200 feet concrete Culvert pipe @ $1.42 per foot making a total amount of $284.00. said amount falls due on April 1,1921 with out interest, said bill to be on interest if not paid by April 1, 1921.

4. B.M. McCoy declares he is going to resign and here and now gives in a verbal resignation.

5 J.B. Roher and Ran Wilson the remaining board instructs J.G. Lane to converse with Howard Brown to see if said Howard Brown will consent to fill Vacancy of B.M. McCoy

Board adjourned to meet at some future time to be appointed by J.B. Roher President.

Oct. 16, 1920,

Supervisors meet in Special meeting J.B. Roher and Ran Wilson present.

This meeting was called for the special reason that said J.B. Roher wants to resign.

Ran Wilson said that if J.B. Roher could get some one to fill his place he was satisfied and that he Ran Wilson would resign too and that G.M. Covert would take his (Wilson's) place. G.M. Covert would not consent to take Ran Wilson's place unless J.B. Roher or a substitute would serve, whereupon Ran Wilson and G.M. Covert leaves the meeting.

Said J.B. Roher then and there notifies the Secretary that he here and now resigns, so the Secretary recorded said actions as they occured. Meeting then adjourned with out a meeting day appointed.

Dec. 6, 1920

I, Ran Wilson do here by solemny declare my resignation as Supervisor of Springfield Township Hunt. Co., Pa. on account of moving out of said Twp. Hunt. Co. pa.

Dec. 6, 1920,

Auditors H.G. Ashton,J.B. Booth, and A.F. Cutshall meet to settle with the Superviosrs of Springfield Township. J.B. Roher, and B.M. McCoy have resigned and consequently Ran Wilson was the only Supervisor present. After said Ran Wilson had settled with said Auditors, he, Ran Wilson tenders his above Resignation on account of moving out of the Township. Now Dec.6, 1920 the said Springfield township has no Supervisors and await the appointment of the same by a lawful procedure.

On January 21, 1921,

 The Court of Quarter sessions of Huntingdon County Pennsylvania by Thos. F. Bailey President Judge appointed Eli Ferrenberg and G.M.Covert to fill the vacancies caused by B.M. McCoy and J.B. Roher Supervisors of Springfield Township Hunt. Co., Pa.

Said Eli Ferrenberg to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of B.M. McCoy whose term shall expire 1st. Monday of December 1921.

Said G.M. Covert to fill the vacancy caused by J.B. Roher whose term shall expire on the 1st. Monday of December 1923.

Ran Wilson whose term would expire on the 1st. Monday of December 1925, is still vacant. Now this 4th. Day of February 1921 Said Eli Ferrenberg and G.M. Covert meet at Meadow Gap School House and were sworn into their respective offices by J.G. Lane, Justice of the Peace.

Said board then and there proceeded to organize and Eli Ferrenberg was uninimously chosen President of the board for the ensueing year of 1921, J.G. Lane was unanimously elected by said board to serve as Secretary for said board to serve for the year 1921.

Said board also agree to petition the Court for permission to lay an extra 10 mills tax to be used for repair and maintainance of thepublic roads. Board then adjourned to meet again on Sat. morning March 5, 1921.

     dollar of the assessed valuation of taxable property in said township for

Feb. 25, 1921.

Supervisors meet in regular meeting, members present were Eli Ferrenburg president and G.M. Covert. Meeting was called toorder by Eli ferrenburg and the following business recorded by J.G. Lane Secty.

1st. Writing of a few orders and signing payment of some.

2. The Supervisors then proceeded to set the wages for the different kinds of work to be done in the Township for the year of 1921, or rather the wages wereset for said year up to July 1st. 1921 with the understanding that these wages are subject to change after July 1st. 1921.

3rd. The wages were set the same as last year (that is 1920) until July 1st. 1921.

4th. The wages for a single hand is to be 20 cents per hour or $2.00 for a 10 hour day.

5th. The wages for one horse and driver is to be 30 cents per hour or $3.00 for a 10 hour day.

6th. The wages for a two-horse team and driver is to be 40 cents per hour or $4.00 for a 10 hour day.

7th Under the present conditions of J.S. Mort our present Collector's health he, J.S. Mort, not being expected to Live it was decided to have Eli Ferrenburg, the present president of said board, to serve as Collector providing it will be lawful so to do, and J.G. Lane, Secretary, was instructed to ask a lawyer's advice regarding the same.

8th. Said board then adjourned to meet in regular meeting at Meadow Gap School House on the last Saturday of March it being the 26 day of March 1921.

July 2nd. 1921,

Supervisors Meet in regular meeting as it was not convenient for the Sect'y J.G. Lane to meet the Supervisors on the last Sat. in June the meeting was held the first Sat. in July, at this meeting Eli Ferrenburg and G.M. Covert were both present.

First - the minutes of last meeting was read and adopted by both members.

The onlybusiness done at this meeting was writing orders for the hired men and issueing the same.

Board adjourned to meet the last Sat. inAugust.

August 27, 1921,

Board of Supervisors meet in regular meeting. Eli Ferrenburg and G.M. Covert were present. Meeting was called to order by Eli Ferrenberg, president.

1st The minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.

2nd. The varioussupervisors then proceeded to give in the time of the different men who were employed on the roads by them during the time from this until the last meeting.

3. Said board then proceeded to signorders for different employes.

4th. Board then adjourned to meet at some future time and place not yet decided upon.

The Board of Supervisors of Springfield Township meet in regular meeting, Members present Eli Ferrenburg, president and G.M. Covert.

1st. Board was called to order by pres. Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.

2nd. The board reported the puting in of lawful tile to the State Highway in order to receive State aid.

3rd. Board then proceeded to give in time of work on roads and to pay some of the men.

Board then adjourned to meet on Sat. Nov. 19, 1921, at Maddensville, Pa.

Nov. 19, 1921,

Board of Supervisors meet in regular meeting, Eli Ferrenburg and G.M. Covert present.

This meeting was a kind of a settlement meeting, of paying off Orders and setling and balanceing accounts and getting ready for the general Auditing Day.

After all time was handed in and orders written and paid and Accounts Balanced, the board then adjourned to meet on the regular Auditing Day at Maddensville on Dec. 5th. 1921.

Dec. 10, 1921,

Board of Supervisors meet the Auditors at Maddensville. Eli Ferrenburg the president was present, G.M. Covert absent on account of sickness.

After setling with the Auditors the New members Eli Ferrenburg and E.V. Mellott were sworn in to Office.

Eli Ferrenburg was unanimously elected president by Eli Ferrenburg and E.V. Mellott. J.G. Lane was appointed Secretary to serve the Board for the year 1922 with the understanding that Meetings were to be held favorably to suit Secretary and salary was to be made Satisfactory.

The wages for two horses and one driver to be 35 cents per hour. For one horse and driver 25 cents per hour. For a single man or hand or woman 15 cents per hour.

These Minutes Were Approved by the full board Viz -- Eli Ferrenburg, G.M. Covert, and E.V. Mellott, on Feb. 4, 1922.

January 4, 1922,

Board of Supervisors meet in Special meeting, Full board Eli Ferrenburg, G.M. Covert and E.V. Mellott present.

1st. The Minutes of Last Meeting Dec.10, 1921, were read and adopted by full board.

2nd. The different Supervisors then proceeded to hand in their time for men employed and other expenses, and sign up Orders for payment of same.

2. On Friday January 20th. 1922 G.M. Covert and Eli Ferrenburg contracted to buy a Road Plow from The Austin-Western Road Machinery Co. for $210.00 for use of Springfield Twp. E.V. Mellott a Supervisor and J.G. Lane were absent at the time of this contract, but at our meeting on Feb. 4, 1922, said Contract was shown to E.V. Mellott and J.G. Lane by Eli Ferrenburg and G.M. Covert, and said J.G. Lane Secretary was ordered by Eli Ferrenburg and G.M. Covert to record said contract on the Minutes.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting full board present.

Minutes of last meeting was read and approved. The different members of the board then proceeded to give in their time for themselves and for their mem employed on the roads since the last meeting and to issue the payment for some of them. Said Board instructed J.G. Lane to write W.M. Henderson concerning the laying of taxes on the 1921 Assessment. Said J.G. Lane is to make out a Tax Duplicate to raise as much or a little more tax than was levied in 1921 whatever rate of mills that would take.

Board then adjourned to meet Last Sat in April 29 . 22.

May 27, 1922.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting, full Board present. The Minutes of last meeting was read and approved by full board.

A Note of $25 for 3 months was given to the Three Springs Bank for loan for over draft, also A note of $210 given to Western Mfg. Co. for Road Plow given to draw interest - June 1.

Board then proceeded to hand in the time of their men for labor on roads.

Duplicate of face of taxes of $1452.07 was laid at a 10 mills rate was given to C.S. Stains for Collection.

A note of $25 was given to the Three Springs Bank on 3 Months time for over draft and a Note of $210 was given to the Austin -Western Road Machinery Co. for a road plow.

Board then adjourned to meet last Saturday in July, 1922.

July 28, 1922

Supervisors meet in regular meeting full board present Eli Ferrenburg, G.M. Covert and E.V. Mellott

1st. G.M. Covert moved and E.V. Mellott seconed said motion that Eli Ferrenburg be removed as president of said board.

      G.M. Covert votes yes, 
      E.V. Mellott votes yes 
      Eli Ferrenburg refuses to vote yes or no, 

Said removal charged for dissatisfaction to the board. Moved by Eli Ferrenburg and Seconed by E.V. Mellott that G.M. Covert serve as president of said board for the balance of the year 1922.

      Eli Ferrenburg Votes yes, 
      E.V. Mellott votes yes 
      G.M. Covert refuses to vote yes or no.

With G.M. Covert serving as president the newly Organized board then proceeded to receive the time handed in for their different employed men for working on the roads and to issue orders for the same.

These minutes and the Orders were dated August 28 - 1922 through the Secretary over looking the date, as this Saturday August 26 - 1928.

Board then Adjourned to meet in regular meeting at Election School House on Saturday September 30 - 1922.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting, full board present.

1st. Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted by full board.

2nd. Eli Ferrenburg agrees to shelter the Road Machinery for 6 months @ 25 cents per month.

3rd. Resolved by full board that the time for delinquent taxables be extended until the 2nd. of Oct. on accout of the 1st. coming on Sunday.

4th. Handing in the mens time and issuing orders for same.

5th. Board then adjourned to meet on the last Saturday in October at Maddens School House or Election House on 10-28-22.

P.S. Full board agrees to pay Wesley Ott One and 50 / 100 Dollars for use of Watering trough along mountain road above Duffey's bridge near Lily Duffey's for year 1922.

Oct. 28, 1922

Supervisors Meet in regular meeting, full board present.

1st. Minutes of last meeting read and adopted by full board.

The Note given Sylvester Cromwell for $1008.42 was due Oct. 29. 1922, hense board resolved to pay interest on this note till July 28, 1922 when board made a payment of $200.00 said interest amounting to $45.38, then pay interest on the remaining $808.42 to Oct. 29, 1922 the time when due was $12.13 making a total interest of $57.51 which added to the principle $808.42 making in all $865.93. Board then Resolved to pay this off to within $700.00 which would make a payment of $165.93 that is $57.51 interest and $108.42 principle .

Board then proceeded to issue the Orders for their men's time and order payment of the same.

Board then adjourned to meet on the last Saturday of Nov.22 at Maddensville Pa.

Supervisors Meet in regular meeting full board present.

1st. Minutes of last meeting was read and adopted by full board.

2nd. Resolved by full board that we continue oue compensation Insurance for year 1923 by same Company as previous years.

3rd. The Supervisors proceeded to hand in the timefor their employes and to issue orders for payment of same.

4th. Board then adjourned to meet the Auditirs on their settlement day, at Maddensville Pa.

Dec.9, 1922 - Auditor Meeting

Maddensville Hunt. Co., Pa.

Old board of Supervisors meet the Auditors and settle d with same for 1922.

1st. New board organized with the following resolutions:

1st. Resolved by E.V. Mellott and sanctioned by Eli Ferrenburg that G.M. Covert serve as president for the new board for 1923, E.V. Mellott votes yes, Eli Ferrenburg votes yes, G.M. Covert not voting.

2nd. Resolved by E.V. Mellott and seconded by G.M. Covert that J.G. Lane serve as secretary for the coming year of 1922 (should be 1923 - glfleck), E.V. Mellott votes yes,G.M. Covert votes yes, Eli Ferrenburg not voting.

3rd. Auditors set the Supervisors wages for 1923 to be same as 1922 ie $2.50 for Supervisoring work on the roads and $2.50 for attending regular meetings.

4th. The wages for laboring men and teams were to be same as last year ie .35 per hr. for 2 horse team and driver .25 per hr. for 1 horse team and driver .15 per hr. for Man.

1st Reg. Meeting after Auditor's Settlement.

March 17 - 1925

Board of Supervisors met in Regular meeting. Full Board Present.

1st. The Rate of mills for year 1923 was taken up and through a little misunderstanding of the Secretary the Duplicate of 1923 had been all ready made out on a 5 mills basis, the Supervisors thought this was hardly enough but as the Duplicate was made out, they decided to let it stand then at 5 mills with the understanding that if more money had to be had for Twp. expenses they would borrow what balance was needed.

2nd. Said Supervisors then gave in the time for work on roads and ordered payment of same.

Board then adjourned to meet the last Saturday in April 1923 at Maddens School House.

April 21, 1923

Board of Supervisors Meet in Regular Meeting, full Board Present

1st. Moved by G.M. Covert and Seconded by Eli Ferrenburg that the Wages for working on the road for the year 1923 be as follows 40 cents per hour for a two horse team and driver, 30 cents per hour for a one horse team and driver, and 20 cents per hour for a single hand, repealing all former acts hereby made by said board for 1923, Said resolution was unanimously voted on by the full board,

2nd. Resolved that the wages be set at $1.20 per hour for a tractor and driver and oil,

3rd. Resolved that we apply for state aid for tiling of 78 feet 24 inch and 126 feet 12 inch, price from factory $203.20 and $61.97 for puting said tiling in the roads making a total of $265.17.

Board of Supervisors meet this day in regular meeting, Full board present.

At this meeting the following business was done.

The Secretary was to fill out 3 different forms Application for State Reward which reads as follows:

1st. That we purchase and install pipe culverts amt. to be determined in 1924.

2nd. That we rebuild the bridge across Elliott's run on Maddensville - Selea road about two miles from Selea.

3rd. That we grade and drain the road from Maddensville to Selea approximately four miles.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting, full board present.

1st. The Supervisors gave in the time for their men working on the road and issued orders for the same.

2nd. As the Tile Note for $235.20 would soon be due, and as they were going to be short of funds, The board unanimously agreed to borrow $300 from S.C. Lane, and did at this time borrow $300 from S.C. Lane and gave the Supervisors Township Note and Secretary was to deposit the said S.C. Lane's check in the Three Springs Bank and issue the Township Order check to the Galion Iron Works Company for 235.20 for to lift the Township's Note for the same. This the secretary did, and got the old note.

Board adjourned with a certain day to meet.

Supervisors meet in regular meeting at the Mill. Full Board present.

1st. The board proceeded to hand in the time for their men on the roads and issued orders for payment for the same.

2nd. The supervisors took in Sylvester Cromwell's old note and gave a new one with the interest added.

3rd. Said Supervisors gave the Collector orders to get this deliquent taxes ready for the Auditors settlement which will be at Maddensville on Saturday Novem December 1st., 1923.

1st. Resolved that G.M. Covert work the following roads. Beginning at the Fulton Line and work to Brownsville then from Brownsville to the Fulton Line to wardDublin Mills and all intervening roads between these roads.

2nd. Resolved that E.V. Mellott work the following roads - beginning at the Clay Twp. Line by Harry Rohers work to ward the building known as C.H. Reihart's farm then from William Stains to the Cromwell Twp. Line and all roads intervening by these Lines.

3rd. Resolved that Eli Ferrenburg work the following roads. -- beginning at the forks of roads by Methods Church work to the Cromwell Twp. Line by way of Meadow Gap, and from Meadow Gap by Leaders to the mail road from Three Springs, Said Eli Ferrenburg to work roads leading to and in Locke Valley and also by Scott Longs, by James Clarks to join Meadow Gap Road.

These resolutions were carried by G.M. Covert and E.V. Mellott, Eli Ferrenburg not being present.

Resolved by G.M. Covert and E.V. Mellott that each Supervisor keep on his own division herein described unless invited by the other suoervisors or receive no pay. Eli Ferrenburg being absent at this resolution.

Moved by G.M. Covert and second by H.O. Brown that we put three pieces of the 4 foot tile that the Twp. have already bought in the road where the run coming the Dave Wible Hollow above Elias Wilson's crosses the road leading from Selea to Maddensville.

P.S. May 29, 1925

The Supervisors of Springfield Twp. Hunt. Co. Pa. hereby make application as provided for in Act No. 314, of General Assemby Approved July 8, 1919, to the Division of Twp. Highways of The Pennsylvania State Highway Department for plans and Specifications for a bridge on the Meadow road crossing the Lick run, about 1 / 4 mile in a Westerly Direction from Meadow Gap, said bridge to be approximately of 22 feet span 4' - 0 feet Vertical clearance and having a road way 16 feet wide, as provided for in the following resolution:

    Resolved: That we construct a bridge across Lick Run Near Meadow Gap - Abutments 
    and Wings to be of cement masonary and Superstructure of wooden Stringers and
    plank floor with wooden quard rails. This bridge to get traffic over what is 
    now a bad fording. State reward has not been reguested on this bridge under 
    Act No. 384 Approval July 15, 1919.

H.O. Brown was sworn into Office, After the Auditors Settled with the Supervisors and Collector etc., the Auditor H.G.Ashton wanted to set the Suoervisors wages at $3.50 and H.J. Madden, Auditor wanted to set Supervisors wages at $3.00, and William Cromwell auditor wanted to set supervisors wages at $3.00.

The $3.00 vote carried, and then and there two of Supervisors viz G.M. Covert and H.A. Wible, Voluntierly and emphatically resigned their office, declaring they would not serve Supervisor at $3.00 per day.

Board of Supervisors meet in regular Meeting, full board present, at this Meeting the following resolutions were passed by full board.

1st.
Resolved that we make application for State reward for the purchase and instalation of culvert pipe in the amount of $600.00
2nd.
Resolved that we make application to grade and drain one mile of road from Cromwell Township line South to ward Meadow Gap.
3rd.
Resolved that we grade and drain one mile of road from Clay Twp. Line East toward Meadow Gap
4th.
Resolved that we grade and drain one mile of road from Clay Twp. Line South to ward Maddensville.

The Supervisors then proceeded to hand in the time for their different men.

       Where as, The section of Highway in Springfield Twp. Hunt. Co. Pa. being 
    in need of a bridge 22 ft long and 16 ft wide situated at the forks of Roaring 
    Run and Lanes Run, 2 miles West of Meadow Gap on road leading from Meadow Gap 
    to Three Springs by way of J.G. Lanes farm, said bridge is gone and is in need 
    of repair or Maintinance and where as the Twp. of Springfield desires to take
    Advantage of the act approved June 12, 1919, as amended by act approved 
    March 10, 1921, permitting Counties of the Commonwealth of Penn'a to 
    appropriate and expend moneys for the improvement and maintenance of State 
    Highways and State Aid Highways or any Public Highway, in any County of the 
    Commonwealth, etc., there for be it Resolved that the Supervisors of Said 
    Springfield Twp. in regular session assembled on this 24 day of April 1926, 
    do on behalf of said Township petition for County Aid as herein before stated.

Supervisors of Springfield Twp. Meet in regular meeting, full board present. At this meeting the following Resolutions were unanimously adopted by said board.

1st. Resolved that we vacate the public road from the brook North West of Wm. Stains to the cross roads on top of hill.

2nd. Resolved that we make a new road beginning at brook north West of Wm. Stains and running South West through lands of Rosa Moore and heirs to the road leading from Selea to Pogue.

3rd. Resolved that we vacate the road beginning at the public road near Bart Shores and running west through and by lands of Bart Shore, Howard Brown, and Gard Anderson to a point near Guard Anderson's buildings known as the "Bare Farm" and joins a road leading from Maddensville by way of James Clark to Three Springs.

4th. Resolved that J.G. Lane, Bart Mansbarger, and D.A. Lane go to Huntingdon as soon as they can and get Attorney's Henderson and Henderson to advise how to proceed in these matters.

The Supervisors then proceeded to hand in their time and issue Orders for the same. Supervisor, C.W. Snyder tenders his resignation as Supervisor of Springfield Township. Said Resignation was gladly accepted by the other two members of the Board Namely Bart Mansbarger and D.A. Lane.

Moved by Bart Mansbarger and seconed by D.A. Lane, that we appoint Frank Madden of Maddensville to fill the Vacancy caused by resignation of C.W. Snyder. This motion was carried and affirmed by said Bart Mansbarger and D.A. Lane.

Resolved that we adjourn to meet again at Election School House on the last Saturday of June 25, 1927.

Election School House

Tax Due the Township $198.11 on or before Jan. 1st. 1928. At this Meeting Frank Madden Supervisor Tenders his resignation and said Resignation is accepted by Bart Mansbarger and Samuel Matthews the other members of said board.

Auditors agree to give Secretary 2 % on all moneys pass throug his hands. Auditors set the Supervisors wages at 30 cents per.

Bart Mansbarger was elected by board to serve as president of said board for the ensueing year of 1928. J.G. Lane was appointed to serve as secretary for the year 1928. Resolved that we pay 30 cents per hour for a man working on the roads. Resolved that we lay a 10 mills tax for the year of 1928. Bart Mansbarger was Sworn in Supervisor on Dec. 10, 1927 to begin his second term.

P.S. The aboved meeting was called for Dec. 3.rd 1927, But H.J. Madden was not present, and other two members H.J. Madden & Wm. Cromwell postponed the time until Dec. 10, 1927, as above.

The Supervisors of Springfield Twp. held a Special Meeting on the above day and date and place.

1. Resolved that we appoint Frank Madden of Maddensville Hunt. Co. Pa. as Supervisor for said Twp. for the unexpired term of G.M. Covert approved by the present members Bart Mansbarger and Samuel Matthews.

2. Resolved that we, the Auditors of said Twp. approve of the disposal of the 5 % extra tax levied for 1927.

3rd. Resolved that we, the Auditors of said Twp., caution the said Supervisors to be more careful of the ways in which they dispose of the taxes of said Twp.

4th. Resolved that the Supervisors pay said Auditors H.G. Ashton, H.J. Madden and Wm. Cromwell for 2 days of auditing.

Resolved that we, Bart Mansbarger, S.R. Matthews, and Frank Madden Petition the County for Aid to build the road beginning at the Springfield and Cromwell Township line and running South West by Paul Flecks Farm 5280 feet to A.D. Flecks Lane.

Resolved by full board that we petition the County Commissioners for County Aid to repair a road beginning at Maddensville and continue to Selea formerly known as Brownsville a distance of some -- 26,400 feet more or less.

Resolved by full board thateach Supervisor work out to the amount of $300 eachand leave balance of tax for emergency cases. Supervisors then proceeded to hand in the time for their different employes and issue orders for same. Meeting then adjourned to meet on the last Saturday of July 28, 1928, at Election School House.

Resolved by full board that we petition Court of Quartersessions for permission to lay an extra 15 mills to help out in fixing our roads, Secretary to see after it. Supervisors of Springfield Township Hunt. Co., Pa., Bart Mansbarger and S.R. Matthews Meet in a special Meeting at the Office of J.G. Lane on the above day and date, for the purpose of securing an other Supervisor for said Twp. for the year 1929 to take the place of Frank Madden resigned.

On the above named day and place E.V. Mellott was lawfully appointed and Sworn into his office as Supervisor of Springfield Township Huntingdon Pa. to serve during the unexpired term of Frank Madden, resigned. At this meeting it was unanimously resolved and voted by full board Bart Mansbarger, S.R. Matthews, and E.V. Mellott That we, the Supervisors of Springfield Township have the Secretary J.G. Lane and Bart Mansbarger to see W.M. Henderson, attorney, to try to get some of the roads in said Twp. which have become useless, inconvenient and burdensome Vacated, Viz:

1st. From Bart Shores over Black Log Mountain to Lockes Valley School House.

1st. Moved by Bart Mansbarger and seconed by S.R. Matthews that E.V. Mellott be appointed to serve out the unexoired term of frank Madden, Motion was carried by both members present.

2nd. E.V. Mellott was then and there appointed and sworn into office.

3rd. J.G. Lane was appointed by Bart Mansbarger, S.R. Matthews and E.V. Mellott to serve as secretary for the Supervisors during the ensueing year.

4th. Bart Mansbarger was unanimously elected president for the ensueing year,

5 Resolved that we lay ten mills (10) mills tax, and petition court for (5) mills for road purpose.

6 Resolved that we pay the men 25 cents per hour for work on roads.

7 Resolved that we pay 45 cents per hour for a two horse team and driver.

Resolved by full board that we Write George M. Brown and see if he can furnish us with 24 plank 16 feet long 12 inches wide and 2 inches thick. Twelve of these plank are are for E.V. Mellott, Six for Bart Mansbarger, and Six for S.R. Matthews. TheSupervisors proceeded to hand in the time for their various employes. Supervisors Meet in regular Meeting, Full Board, Bart Mansbarger, Elmer V. Mellott, and Samuel R. Matthews Present. At this Meeting the following resolutions were adopted.

1st. Resolved by full board that we hand in the time for our men, working on the road and secretary write orders for same.

2nd. Resolved by full board that we borrow $700 from Three Springs Bank for Sixty days to pay off outstanding orders, and pay it back soon as Collector gets enough tax in to do so. Secretary to fix up note and see after same.

3rd. Resolved by full board board that we petition for County Aid for the purpose of puting a bridge across Elliott's Run near J.M. Hockenbery at Junction of Mt. Carmel road and Maddensville Road, Petition forwarded.

4th. Moved by Bart Mansbarger and Seconed by Elmer V. Mellott that we apply for State aid to improve either the Orbisonia Road or Brownsville Road. The question was put to Vote on which of the two roads we will take. Bart Mansbarger and Samuel R. Matthews Voted yes for the Orbisonia Road and Elmer V. Mellott Voted No, on said Road. On the Brownsville Road Elmer V. Mellott Voted yes and Bart Mansbarger and Samuel R. Matthews Votes No.

    The Orbisonia Road carried, so be it Resolved that we, the Supervisors of 
    Springfield Township Hunt. Co. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby make 
    Application to the Department of Highways for State Reward for payment of work 
    under Section 434 Subdivision "A" as provided for in Act No. 319 of the 
    General assembly Approved July 14, 1917 P.L. 840 as amended. We, the Said 
    Supervisors, further Resolve that the road which we resolve to have improved 
    shall begin at the Line between Springfield and Cromwell Townships in 
    Huntingdon County CommonWealth of Pennsylvania Near Lands Commonly known as 
    the farm of Duffey, John heirs and extending Southward toward Maddensville 
    Huntingdon County Pennsylvania, a distance of near five (5) miles.

Board then adjourned to meet last Friday in May, or May 31, 1929, at Election School House at 7 A.M.
