Correction or Child Abuse ?       We hear so much about the abuse of our children today !   It is a shame that there are parents out there that do such horrid things to the children !
But is a good slap across the mouth such a bad thing ?   I have heard of parents paying ridiculous fines, and even spending time in jail for doing just that !  In todays society the children know that they can cause great problems by screaming "Child Abuse" to the authorities !  And just who do the so called authorities believe............yeah the kid !
     Children today are so undisciplined and ignorant of any social skills, that I believe it is time to ask ourselves if we are not doing more harm than good with this abuse hysteria !   The other day at the grocery store some little "beastie" was yelling and screaming because mommie told him "NO" when he asked for something !  He kept it up and no amount of verbal communication would keep the little brat quiet, so mommie gave in and got him what he wanted !  Just what has he learned here, Hmmmm  I get no correction for throwing a fit, and furthermore if I keep it up long enough, I'll get what  I want !  Excellent lesson there mother !!!!
    If that would have been my mother all those years ago, I would have had a sore behind, and a shamed face right there in the store !   I knew better than to push things, as I had DISCIPLINE !   Mom would tell me something once, then maybe warn me that I was going to get something I didn't want,  Then she would give it to me !   No the old Troll didn't push it too much.  Now I am not going to say I never got away with things ,  Yes I did !   Mother usually left them go, not major things mind you but just little things that didn't need an issue made of them !
    Today eight year old kids are cussing out adults, they show absolutely no respect for their elders, they have no manners, and generally have no social skills at all !   Most are passed through the school system without learning anything, and end up on the street with less abilities than I did when I was 12 years old !   The schools have done away with any discipline, the home life has turned into a joke, and we wonder why we have to call the police to our schools to arrest a juvenile for breaking the law !
    It's time to turn back the clock 30 years, bring back discipline, bring back the paddle, a good swift backhand never did me or any of my friends any harm !  {Believe me we all had a few !!}  The wooden paddle on my behind may have made it red and a bit sore to sit for a little bit.  But in reality it nothing more than stung, and drove home a point that was not soon forgotten !
Let us quite coddling these little monsters we call children, teach them the meaning of discipline, the values that were taught 30 years ago, and respect !
Perhaps, our crime rate will go down, people will be a bit more friendly, and just maybe there will be hope for our future generations !  If this trend of
"No correction" continues the world of the future will be a sorry place indeed, and we will have no one to blame but ourselves !  Stand up now for the right to correct our kids, take this "time out " garbage and replace it with a good old fashioned paddling !  Ten to one, we will see less need to correct the children, less problems in school, and just perhaps an upswing in values and morals that have been steadily declining since the 1970s !
    Something to think about, something to act on !  I am not saying all children need these measures, but I would go as far as to say that MOST would definitely benefit from stronger punishment.   What ever happened to
